ORLANDO Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi will make his 350th start in the PSL tomorrow night at Port Elizabeth, joining an elite band of players to reach the landmark.

It is the 14th season in the top-flight for the 36-year-old defender, who began his career in the 1997-98 campaign for the now-defunct Limpopo-based Real Rovers.

Dropped by new coach Roger de Sa when he came on board at Pirates in September, he has bounced back into the team by taking the place of injured Rooi Mahamutsa and regaining the captain's armband.

Tomorrow's 8pm clash against Maritzburg United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will mark his 15th start of the season and his 289th appearance in the line-up for Pirates since he joined them in 2002.

Lekgwathi has won three league titles in his time with the Buccaneers, the first in his opening season with the club and numbers two and three over the last two seasons.

He is the only link between the current Pirates generation and the championship-winning side of the 2002-3 campaign.
