Usuthu not yet in clear

AMAZULU could well have turned the corner after securing their second win of the season in midweek, but their fortunes in the league could be determined by the outcome of their clash with Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday.

Coach Roger Palmgren breathed a sigh of relief after his side beat University of Pretoria 1-0 on Wednesday - their second win of the season.

The Swede has been under pressure to turn things around, and the win lifted the side from the foot of the table, where they have lingered for most of the season.

After the win, Palmgren was in a happy mood. "I never look at the log, but (after the win) I'll be having a look at it now. There's a lot of happiness to take out of the match," he said.

The coach praised his troops and hoped they would continue the effort at the Free State Stadium against Celtic on Sunday.

Celtic were brought back down to earth on Wednesday by Maritzburg United after they defeated Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout competition at the weekend. They will still be licking their wounds from the 2-1 loss.

The other match on Sunday will be a battle between Ajax Cape Town and Black Leopards at the Cape Town Stadium. Lidoda Duvha's new head coach, Ian Palmer, is in search of his first victory since taking the reins at the Limpopo side.

On Wednesday Leopards lost 1-0 to in-form Platinum Stars.

The matches kick off at 3.30pm.
