Zambia lines up local stars for Bafana duel

IN-FORM Orlando Pirates striker Collins Mbesuma is one of the five South African-based players included in Zambia's squad due to play Bafana Bafana in the Nelson Mandela Challenge at Soccer City on November 14.

Coach Herve Renard has also included the Free State Stars duo of Kennedy Mweene and Noah Chivuta, SuperSport United defender Davies Nkausu and Joseph Musonda of Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Chipolopolo are the reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions and will be using the November 14 match to sharpen up for the Afcon finals in South Africa to take place next January.

"We are delighted to feature in such a big match to honour Madiba, we want to end the year with a win that will lay a solid foundation for the 2013 Afcon finals," said Mbesuma.

Former Pirates midfielder Isaac Chansa, James Chamanga and the Katongo brothers - Chris and Felix - are also part of the tried and tested squad.

Football Association of Zambia president Kalusha Bwalya is confident his country will put up a great show this time round after losing the inaugural tournament 2-1 in 1994.

"We are happy with Soccer City as the venue for the match because it will be part of the facilities that will be used for the tournament.

"It's a great honour for us to play for Madiba, a legend and father of democracy as well as a beacon of hope for all of us in Africa and globally."
