Tokelo Rantie puts future talks with Malmo on hold

IN FINE FORM: Malmo striker Tokelo Rantie

BAFANA Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie will only have further discussions over his future with Swedish side Malmo in January next year.

The 21-year-old is on loan at Malmo until the end of 2013, but the club have first option to sign him outright should they so wish.

Rantie has made a terrific start to his spell with the club, netting six goals in seven starts. This has led to Malmo seeking to open talks over making the deal permanent.

But the player's agent, Nadime Mahmood, says he will only be talking properly with the club early next year and that there is unlikely to be any change to his situation before then.

"I will only be sitting down with the club in January to discuss Tokelo and we will see what transpires from there," Mahmood said.

"Malmo do have first option on him, that is part of the loan agreement between them and Hasselholm. The feedback we have been getting so far has been very positive, but we will see what they say in January."

His signature has been a major coup for the title-chasing Swedes after Orlando Pirates turned down the opportunity to purchase him outright for just R2-million at the end of last season, a snip at today's PSL prices.
