Six more soccer fans have handed themselves in to police in Dobsonville, Soweto, after Mamelodi Sundowns fans vandalised the local stadium, Johannesburg police said
“The six men arrived this morning at the Dobsonville police station and will appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court later today or tomorrow,” Warrant Office Kay Makhubela said.
This took the number of people who had handed themselves to police since Saturday to nine.
They would face malicious damage to property, trespassing, and vandalism charges.
The three other men who handed themselves over at the weekend would appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court today.
On Sunday, September 30, Sundowns supporters tore down the stadium’s security fence, stormed the pitch and caused about R27,000 worth of damage after their team lost to Moroka Swallows.

Now we need those truck drivers who have been burning the trucks and injuring people to hand themselves over to the police. They know it's a right thing to do. We can't live in a world where vandalism is the way to be heard by those who are in charge.Report Abuse

Things aren't fair in this world. The poor Downs fans are being arrested left-right-centre but the truck drivers who burn trucks and kill other drivers as well as Marikana miners who keep killing NUM shop-stewards are roaming our streets without any action by our useless government. Why is Doctor Khumalo who killed taxi commuters in 2008/09 in an accident after driving while intoxicated with drugs and alcohol not in jail? Why are the Pretoria Zebos who robbed Pelembe of R300 000 cash still not arrested? Why is Zuma's people who Killed Jimmy Mohlala still not found and arrested?

@Kukuyalethosahey wena are u crazy? they must face the music, these are the rewards of what they have done, why didn't they go to vandalise sundowns offices to show that they do not support the coach. where did you get the information that Doctor killed taxi commuters,, you get stories upside down, there was no fatality in that accident only injuries, stop lying to people.

@phumasbethane,some seriously injured woman would later miscarry as a result of that accident. Another died a months later in hospital on what was suspected to be trauma caused by the accident. So, Doctor's recklessness is directly linked their death.

south african soccer will never come alright, until it is run by cool headed people. i'm not against law and order in stadiums.BUT the timing of involving criminal process. serious offences like arson, were committed previously, but no action tantamount to this was taken. some elements are trying their all to destroy motsepe. it's a pity the president is surrounded by incapable staff that is helping the leftists directly or indirectly to misdirect the team. however time will come and all these detractors will eat humble pie.KA BOYELO
