Masilela ready to debut for Chiefs

Former Bafana Bafana left-back Tsepo Masilela is ready to finally make his debut for current Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs, after being sidelined by injuries.

Masilela could be given a run when Chiefs take on Bloemfontein Celtic at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday in a game that is expected to be played before a capacity crowd.

Kick off is 6pm.

Amakhosi communications manager Vina Maphosa said the defender was training hard and has been dishing out top-drawer performance.

"We are happy that Tsepo has been training hard in the past few days, he is doing very well and we are all impressed by his work rate," he said.

Masilela, who last played for Benoni Premier United in the PSL in 2008 before going to Israel, was suffering from appendicitis.

He joined Chiefs at the beginning of last month from Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa, who had loaned him to Spanish La Liga side Getafe last season.

Also back in action for the unbeaten Chiefs is creative midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi, who missed their last two wins against BidVest Wits (3-1) and Chippa United (2-0) due to a hamstring injury.

  • Ajax Cape Town have fired coach Maarten Stekelenburg after a string of poor results.

Ajax CEO George Comitis said Wilfred Mugeyi and Jan Pruijn will be in charge of the team for the game against AmaZulu on Saturday night.

"We hope to make the announcement regarding the coach's position before the Sundowns game," Comitis said.
