Mosimane conducts coaching workshop

FORMER Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane is imparting his knowledge to aspiring coaches in a week-long workshop which starts in Soweto today.

Mosimane will conduct the Carling Black Label coaching workshop at the University of Johannesburg's Soweto campus with a total of 36 coaches from various amateur soccer clubs attending.

The giant beer company is investing R1-million annually until 2015 towards the development of young soccer coaches in South Africa.

The 36 coaches attending are from the SAB Regional League.

Mosimane will teach them on what it takes to be a modern-day tactician, involving intensive theoretical and practical training.

Mosimane is assisted by former Manning Rangers and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Grant Johnson and Safa coaching education instructor Steve Coetzee. In a statement issued at the weekend, the organisers said various experts from within the South African football and the world of sports science will give presentations on everything from match tactics, planning a training session and the latest trends on modern football to nutrition, psychology and the principles of leadership.

"It is a lot for the coaches to take in, we saw that last year, but our workshop gives them an excellent platform from which to go on and do their Safa courses and perhaps one day become a professional coach in the Premier Soccer League," said Mosimane.

The SAB said they were happy to assist in the development of coaches at amateur level.
