Khumalo on winning streak at PAOK

BONGANI Khumalo made a winning start to his Greek Super League career as he played for PAOK in their season-opener against Panthrakikos on Sunday.

The centre-back has now made four starts for the Greek side he joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for this season, and has been on the winning side on all four occasions. The other three matches were in the Europa League.

In Belgium, Ayanda Patosi came on at half-time for Lokeren, but could not inspire his side to victory as they went down 2-1 at Gent. Patosi was likely being saved for his side's Europa League tie at Czech club Viktoria Plzen, where they hold a 2-1 lead from the home leg.

There was no such respite for Anele Ngcongca, who made his ninth appearance of the season for Genk at centre-back as they beat Zulte-Waregem 2-1. Ngcongca made 47 starts for the club last season, easily the most by a South African abroad, and already looks to set to match or beat that mark this campaign, injury permitting.

Masilo Modubi played for second-tier side Dessel Sport as they beat Grimbergen 2-1 in the Belgian Cup on Sunday.
