Somma's career hangs in balance
LEEDS United say they are reluctant to put a time frame on a return to training for Bafana Bafana striker Davide Somma, but are hopeful he might be back by the end of October.
Somma suffered a knee ligament injury in July last year and missed the entire last campaign for the English Championship side.
And having had two failed comeback bids, the latest of which required further surgery, there are fears for the long-term career prospects of the 27-year-old.
Somma has not been given a squad number for the 2012-13 season by manager Neil Warnock, though club insiders say not too much should be read into that.
"It looks like he may be back in October at best, but nobody wants to put a time frame on it because of the seriousness of the injury," a club source said. "He is working on his rehab now, but they had hoped that he would be further along by this stage. He is probably still some way off from being ready, if at all this season."
Somma made his Bafana debut against the US in November 2010 and scored his first international goal a few months later against Kenya.
He was a good foil for first-choice striker Katlego Mphela and looked to be at the peak of his career when injury struck him down in pre-season for the 2011-12 campaign.

I agree with You, Goli. He must not loose hope. Maybe he must consider coming to SA to join SuperSports United. Ask Madigage as he thought it was over with his career but miraculously he was healed.Report Abuse
