Mphela training again

Aug 7, 2012 | Mark Gleeson | 14 comments

KATLEGO Mphela returned to the training ground yesterday as the Bafana Bafana striker continued on the road to recovery following a knee operation in June.

It will come as a boost to both club and country, but it is still unclear when the 27- year-old will take to the pitch again.

Mphela confirmed his return to training with the team after last week, working hard on his own with specialist biokineticists at Sundowns' headquarters at Chloorkop.

After a miserable season, in which he played with pain for much of the second half of the last campaign and managed to score just once in 15 appearances, Mphela is making good progress, according to Sundowns club officials.

He had keyhole surgery on his right knee on June 25, which doctors pronounced successful. But they were unable to give an estimation of how long it would be before he would return to full action.

Mphela is not expected to make the Bafana Bafana trip to Brazil next month when Gordon Igesund debuts as the new national team coach. But Mphela could be back in action in October.

Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens still has new Dutch defensive signing Alje Schut out injured, but both Anthony Laffor and Elias "Dominguez" Pelembe have recovered from respective heel and ankle trouble.

Hopefully he doesn't recover too well... simply can't have this kak striker back in the Bafana fold.
He's costing us big time, along with Khune. No I'm not a Pirates fan...

Mphela, the Bafana's, we wish you a speedy recovery so that you can come and assist our National Team with your excellent services. Not only Bafana Bafana need you, but the Mighty Downs also need you to boost their striking force.
We all understand you are not Pirates for sure, but losers, and we can not confuse losers with Pirates and as such you did not have to explain yourselves. Infact your are of no difference to Powerlines.

Viva Downs, viva.. Viva, Viva Mphela, viva.. Viva, Viva Bafana Bafan, viva..Viva, Viva 4-1 win against Powerline, viva..Viva.

O fola dipatse for sure. Even though Mphela was Pitso s favourite, he has on numerous occasion saved Bafana from embarrasment through the important goals he scored. He might be off form for his club but he delivered for Bafana. Whether Gordon calls him up or not i dnt give a toss

To boost which striking force? The one that walloped Powerlines on sunday does not need any boost, considering that quality players such as Anthony Laffor and Domingues Pelembe were not there

Mphela is a great player, and has been helping Bafana Bafana... Get well soon Killer we miss you. You don't have motivation at Sundowns, hence its affecting you performance at club level. I think Iron Duke should bring you to Mayfair, and i know you will demolish everything in your way!!!!
