He only qualified in about the 11th fastest time out of the 16 semi finalists, so I don't think we should expect too much. On the other hand, maybe his sheer determination and guts can drive him to a medal !

This chad guys is good, what a finishing yesterday i thot he was loosing out to the asian guy (no.3) but, he came back with a bang to no2 and surprisingly touching the finishing spot b4 Michael Phelps or who-ever that fother-mucker frm america is. That was magnificent.

As for this Van biljoen biatch she is so useless i have watched her, she is very useless- she wont make it to any final in these olympics, let alone a medal.

There are many places where you can read about all the SA Africans taking part, when their events are taking place, etc. It is natural that Le Clos and VD Burgh will get the headlines until we get another medal, then that person will get the headlines. 12 medals is way pushing our luck. I think to be realistic we can expect another medal from Chad(not necessarily gold). Khotso might get one, Caster I'm pretty sure she is gonna get one. Another one from the rowers. I am not sure about the BMX guy, the last time I saw him was in the previous Olympics. Other than that, I don't see more medals. Sorry, I don't see 12 medals target happening. Kunzima ngaphandle baba, The Russians, Americans, British and Ch!nese are always dominating the Olympics.

By the way, many, many countries are going to go home with no medals..

Speaking of the British, why during the Olympics they have Great Britain which is England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland as far as I know? But during the soccer world cup they get separated, they have England on it's own, Ireland on its own etc. Are they combining them to increase the chances of getting more medals and separating them in soccer to create chances for one of them to win the world cup? Blerrie crooks.

That is why they find reserves they never knew they had and pull out personal best times. Whining about it isn't the way to go though, that never motivated anyone.

I've found myself, over the years, becoming more and more 'xenophobic'. Wanted the Mexicans to win because they are 'southerners' like us and wanted Coventry to win because she is 'African' like us. Only ones from the south that I tend to shout against are the Ozzies - thats a rugby thing I suppose :)

Olympics are irresistible just like world soccer. I have been watching them since I was a young kid, during the days of Carl Lewis :-D. Actually I thought he was the best Olympian ever only to get a shock last night when they said Phelps is.
