Name change ordered for horse named Blackman
Australian racing authorities have ordered that a horse called Blackman be given a new name because the original could be seen to be offensive
The 3-year-old, sired by British stallion Excellent Art, was named after famous Australian artist Charles Blackman, The Australian newspaper reported.
But Registrar of Racehorses Myles Foreman said switching to Lady Blackman would be a “balance that suits the needs of everyone”.
The registrar reserves the right to “cancel any horse’s registered name for whatever reason,” according to its website.
