Professor stays put
ORLANDO Pirates have given fan favourite Mark Mayambela, pictured, a reason to stay for another season with the club after guarantees that he is still part of the coach's plans.
Mayambela, a fringe player at the double treble winning-champions, was linked with a loan move to newly promoted side Chippa United.
However, the Buccaneers confirmed yesterday that Mayambela would honour the remaining year on his contract with the club.
The midfielder joined Pirates from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he played a starring role in helping the club finish sixth on the log table during the 2009-10 season after almost being relegated in the previous one.
It is unclear if Mayambela, 24, was given guarantees by coach Augusto Palacios or Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza after he indicated that he was unhappy with limited game time.
"Mark Mayambela will not be going out on loan," Pirates said. "The midfielder is very much still in the technical team's plans for the 2012-13 season."
Mayambela arrived at Pirates while Ruud Krol was still in charge.

Mark made a good decision even thou i would have loved to see him playing for Chippa United, in his home town. Where he is most appreciated. Staying put will be a make or break for him especially coz last season he didn’t get much game time, hope his fortunes will change this season. It is a fact that Chippa wanted his services this season but the boy refused to move down and pirates were initially willing to loan him out for the season. Good luck my boy.Oh by the way kudala silindile ude woluke nini kkwedini? maybe your fortunes will change for the better, izinyanya zakho ziqumbile hence the mediocre perfomance we all know your capabilities. uyabakolota abahlali basekhayelitsha.
