Bafana coach tops agenda

Jun 29, 2012 | Mark Gleeson | 14 comments

DECIDING on the new Bafana Bafana coach will be the first order of business when the South African Football Association's national executive committee holds its two-day meeting in Johannesburg this weekend.

MAGICIAN: Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund

There are plans in place to get the choice of either Gordon Igesund or Steve Komphela decided by lunchtime on the first day and for a press announcement to be made soon after.

The entire process is taking place at Safa House next to Soccer City, which is sure to be besieged by media waiting to find out who the next coach will be.

That is if the committee agrees on the choice, but there is always the chance the decision might be delayed.

Both coaches will present their vision to the committee, which will then deliberate on the matter and decide.

Earlier this week Safa president Kirsten Nematandani lashed out at speculation that the choice had been made after previous presentations to the technical committee.

"It is very wrong to conclude that because the technical and development committee has said one, two or three, we should rubber-stamp that decision," he said.

The desition has been taken already, remember they want a long term solution and surely Gordon is not a long term solution, no international experiance, no nothing about National set up, so the only choise is Steve, that is all. stop all the halla ba loo.

Give the damn job to Gordon, thats if we want to get somewhere with this BAFANA BAFANA thing.
Please, dont do something you will regret having done, (giving the job to KOMPELA will be very wrong). If Gordon ensures us that he will do the job, trust him, he can do it and we will all be very proud

Bull-Dog

If they do not give Gordon then we boycott to SAFA house. His record says it all, his CV speaks volume than any coach's. Away with formal principles...

Come on SAFA, give Gordon a chance. i mean this thing that he has a club success in PSL & no international is crap.. look for example, Spain Coach Del Bosque, he had a club success with no internal experience but look at Spain now. thats just an example

Give Gordon a chance, Give Gordon a chance please

this cannot be correct appointing a coach taking a whole lot of time this is going to have a negative impact both to my team Swallows and FS Stars, other teams are bolstering their pesonnel and started to prepare for the next season we dont know whether we would be having Gordon as our coach or not. the sooner safa takes a dicision the better for Swallows to start preparing for new season with or without Gordon. Swallows management i dont know why are they quiet?
