Gould joins Kaizer Chiefs - Amakhosi signal title intentions
KAIZER Chiefs' buying spree continued yesterday when they unveiled Bafana Bafana defender Morgan Gould as part of their plans to return to their days of glory.
Club general manager Bobby Motaung, who has been spending sleepless nights in an attempt to bring the crème de la crème to Naturena, said Gould has signed a four-year contract with the club.
"We have been eyeing Morgan for almost two years and we are glad he has finally landed in Naturena. Morgan is one of the most reliable defenders in South Africa.
"The arrival of Morgan is further proof that we are serious about taking Chiefs back to glory days where we used to win trophies - it is starting next season.
"Morgan was contracted to SuperSport United, so we had to approach them. The same applies to Mulomowandau Mathoho; Bloemfontein Celtic informed us they are still looking for a replacement before releasing him.
"We have got the money but must respect others when they ask us to wait, " said Motaung.
Gould ended his career with United on a high note after helping them win the Nedbank Cup following a 2-0 win over big spenders Mamelodi Sundowns in Soweto on Saturday.
At the end of the game, Gould was seen wearing a white T-shirt with "Thank You" written on the front, which was a message addressed to the supporters of United for supporting him while he was at the club.
Gould is the second big-name player recruited by Amakhosi after another Bafana defender, Siboniso Gaxa, joined the South African soccer giants two weeks ago.
Amakhosi have also roped in former Under-23 national goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo from AmaZulu. Striker Sakhile Hlongwa has joined from Ethekwini Coastal FC.
Striker Sthembiso Ngcobo has signed a three-year extension to his contract, keeping him at Naturena until the end of 2015-2016 season.
Veteran goalkeeper Arthur Bartman has signed a one-year extension.
Chiefs have accepted transfer requests from striker Lucky Khune and defender Tlou Molekwane, while Steven Ncanana, Dominic Mateba and Siyabulela Songwiqi had their contracts terminated, and Brent Lawler, Kabelo Metsimetsi and Thela Ngobeni were released.
"(Midfielder) Gerald Sibeko, who has been with the senior team for more than 10 seasons, has decided to retire."

We signed Gaxa and Gould long before Vodacom announcement. Who said Chiefs dont have money?
We made enquiries about Mathoho, Manqele, Mashaba long before this sponsorship. We have the money we were let down by Bobby all these years and this time Chiefs will re-claim their status from these fly by-night treblers mark my words

I think these people need to know that Kaizer M Senior is the second richest club owner in mzansi, following motsepe, so there is no need to say that chiefs is getting money from vodacom...Report Abuse

Step in the right direction, but still a long way to go if they want to match what Pirates has achieve in the past 2 seasons. I'm not a Pirates fan. I'm just telling it as it is.If I was them, I would release Ngcobo, Sibeko, Parker, Masango, Isaacs, Mateba, Lucky Khune, Ncanana, Sweswe and Katsande. I would then get replacements. Nengomasha and Tau are not that bad, but they are aging. I would also get backups for them.
Chiefs need a huge clean up and spend atleast R40 million on new signings. Gould alone is useless as he will be playing with a bunch of ordinary players.
