Overseas deal first prize for Moleko
BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic youngster Kgotso Moleko, pictured, is still hoping to win a move overseas despite interest from Kaizer Chiefs.
Local reports have linked the right-back with a move to Naturena for next season and while those are accurate with the club interested in his services, Avusa Sports understands that the player is still keen to realise his dream of playing in Europe.
The 22-year-old will be a free agent when his contract with Celtic expires at the end of next month, allowing him to choose his next destination.
There is strong interest in his services from an unnamed Portuguese side, while Belgian outfit Lierse are expected to renew their interest after a January move failed to materialise.
Moleko is seen by the Belgians as the perfect replacement for Siboniso Gaxa, who left the club for Chiefs earlier this month. However, the salary proposal they put on the table in January was well below what the player could earn in the PSL and was rejected by his representatives.
They are expected to come back with an improved offer when the transfer window re-opens, when they are expected to have removed their other high earners, South Africans Daylon Claasen and Lance Davids, from the wage bill as well.
Moleko joined Celtic from Free State Vodacom League side Hellas FC ahead of the 2010-11 season and became an instant regular, making almost 50 appearances over the past two campaigns.
