LONDON - Manchester United's Alex Ferguson has been voted the top manager in the first 20 years of the Premier League, and Ryan Giggs has been selected as the top player.
Ferguson's United sides have won the title 12 times, but his team lost this year's championship on goal difference to neighbours Manchester City on Sunday.
Giggs, 38, has been part of all of United's Premier League title-winning sides and is the most decorated player in British football .
He has made 598 Premier League appearances and is committed to playing for United next season.
Ferguson, 70, also has no plans to leave United, where he has been in charge since 1986. Votes were cast by a panel of experts.

Is this some sort of consolation, Man City won and they are the Champions this year, dont tell us stories of 20 years, let us all join hand s and congradulate Man City. It is all about them this year, why they were not praised last year, sour grapes. Congradulations to the African boys who represented the continant very well, especially Yaya Toure, Good God bless you and give you streangth for next season, good luck boys.Report Abuse

Why wait for 20 years? Man City won and we must not try to dilute that by focusing on Man United, they lost, got beaten 8 - 1 at some stage, is that a great team in the 2011 season, no, only in the 19 years, they were bad this season.Report Abuse

Really, 8-1? Which EPL are you watching? If the EPL board wants to award after 20 years, who are you to question them? You dont have a sayReport Abuse

PapageMan U has never lost 8 - 1 in their Premiership history. They lost 6 - 1 to Man City. Their worst defeat since the early 50's. Ryan Giggs was voted the best player in the past 20 years due to consistency and hard work. He's a role model to the kids throughout the world.

Miss typed, I wanted to say 6-1, yes, they are the losers, best for 19 years and very bad year 2011/2012. Viva Man City, Viva, even next year they will get punished until old dorpie and Giggs 38 go. The winds of change are blowing and last year was their last win.Report Abuse

Blah blah blah. If you know the EPL, then you know Fergie always makes a comeback. Ask Chelsea and Arsenal.Report Abuse

@PapageYou sound just like papagae. EPL is 20 years this season since its formation so they have numerous awards in celebration of this milestone. Manc won the title this year, just like Chelsea and Arsenal did in the past so there is nothing spectacular about this. Remember the last won it some many decades ago so they cant be in the same league as Gunners, Blues, Tottenham, Reds, let alone the mighty Red Devils. They were not better than Red Devils despite the player stars they have and yet they only won on goal difference, after FIVE referee's added minutes. The story in this article is about 20 years celebration of the EPL irrespective of who won the league, its not about individual clubs. People like you make me worried about this country, you dont use that matter between your ears but continue to open your mouth. Advice: if you dont know, SHUT UP.
