THULANI Serero could be reunited with his old coach Foppe de Haan next season in the Dutch league.
De Haan is furiously trying to persuade SC Heerenveen to take the Bafana Bafana midfielder on loan from Ajax Amsterdam after a disappointing first season overseas for the prodigy from Soweto.
The veteran coach, who brought out the best of Serero at Ajax Cape Town in the 2010-2011 season, is now serving as a consultant to his old club. He had been coach at Heerenveen for almost two decades before becoming Dutch under-21 side coach and then moving to South Africa for 18 moths.
De Haan has retired but still works with Heerenveen's staff and is a big fan of Serero. Even though Ajax won the Dutch league and eliminated Manchester United in the Uefa Europa League in recent months, Serero has hardly made an impact in his debut season after a R20million move.
He started only one game for his new club and then made infrequent appearances as a substitute. There has been speculation for several weeks about a move for the nippy midfielder so that he can get regular game time.
Ajax want to sign Heerenveen star Luciano Narsingh, and making Serero part of the deal could help the process.
