Leopards look to settle score
BLACK Leopards have described tomorrow's Premiership clash against Wits at Milpark Stadium as a must-win fixture to end their relegation woes.
This comes after Leopards' relegation blues were compounded by Moroka Swallows with a 5-2 drubbing in Giyani on Friday. Lidoda Duvha star defender Vincent Mabusela said they wanted to win against Wits to boost their confidence ahead of Sunday's match with Nigeria's Warri Wolves in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.
"We have recovered from the defeat by Swallows and are now focusing on our game against Wits on Tuesday. We will settle for nothing else but a win," he said.
"Wits owe us big time after beating us 2-1 in the first round in Polokwane in November. We are going to settle the score on Tuesday. We are left with three games, including Jomo Cosmos and Ajax Cape Town, and are determined to collect maximum points from these matches.
"There is no way Leopards will go back to the National First Division and we want to assure our supporters that we will retain our Premiership status," he said.
The well-travelled Mabusela said playing in the CAF Confederation Cup has helped instill confidence in the team.
"This has exposed some of us to international soccer. We are now playing with confidence," he said. Leopards resume their continental campaign on May 13 against the Nigerian side at Peter Mokaba Stadium. The Limpopo side must win 2-0 without conceding to qualify for the quarterfinals of the continental competition.
