Morgan in Chiefs' sights

KAIZER Chiefs have emerged as top contenders for the signature of Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould, who could leave United at the end of this season.

Mamelodi Sundowns have been long-time admirers of the 29-year-old and have come close to signing him in the past, only for the transfer to break down, much to the disappointment of Gould.

But Chiefs are now understood to be ready to make their move, with the player having given up hope of a transfer overseas.

Amakhosi did consider an offer for Gould ahead of this season, but it failed to materialise. Matsatsantsa COO Jose Ferreira says the club will not make any decision on the sale of players until the end of the season, but did not rule out a departure for Gould. With Chiefs potentially facing the loss of Zimbabwean international Thomas Sweswe to a global ban after the Asiagate betting scandal, the club is on the hunt for a centre-back.

Gould's experience at international level, his leadership qualities, as well as the fact that he has won league titles with Gavin Hunt's side, makes him the top choice among local defenders in the PSL.

He had a trial at Crystal Palace in July last year, but the English club failed to make a move for him.

media is pathetic cos CHIEFS is struggling now every player in the PSL and NFD will be on CHIEFS sight? nxa please leave us alone, why dont u report about current CHIEFS players who are not performing that they should go on loan...i think will make better news reading than this crap...

CHIEFS doesnt have too many problems at the back, get a midfield maestro then the defence will sort itself out. we are failing to put our opponents under pressure and lacks creativity that's all, way too predictable in the middle!!! get us a dribbling wizzard and two deadly strikers or offensive players (SIBUSISO VILAKAZI, JAYIYA) and please get rid of KATSANDE and NENGO all the defensive midfielders we dont want to defend but to score and win games...

Honestly speaking and with all due respect , Tau and Nengomasha are old and need urgent replacement.
Maybe Morgan could be the solution to the leaky defence.
