MADRID - Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has missed his 43rd news conference since taking over in 2010, leaving assistant Aitor Karanka to defend the club's form with their lead over Barcelona cut by six points to four in the Spanish league.
Madrid have drawn three of their past five games and face Atletico Madrid today.
Karanka said there is "no fear or anxiety in the team", adding that "nobody doubts Mourinho".
