EASTER might mean holidays for most of us, but it always provides a packed programme of football in Europe as the season reaches the final stretch.

Steven Pienaar and Andrew Surman went head-to-head in the English Premier League as Everton twice led at Norwich City but were held to a 2-2 draw.

The Bafana Bafana skipper set up the second Everton goal for Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic and had another excellent game, while left-wing Surman, who turned down the chance to play for Bafana against Senegal in February, was quieter for Norwich.

Bongani Khumalo continued to sit in the stands for Tottenham Hotspur in their 0-0 draw at Sunderland, with his agent this week suggesting he will be back out on loan in the new campaign.

In the second-tier English Championship, Kagisho Dikgacoi was in the Crystal Palace side that suffered a third defeat in four games as they went down 3-1 at Birmingham City, while Aaron Mokoena was still missing for Portsmouth with his niggling ankle injury as they drew 2-2 at leaders Southampton.

In Belgium, Anele Ngcongca helped Genk to a 2-0 win over Gent in the championship play-off group, while Darren Keet was on the bench for Kortrijk as they won 3-1 at home to Club Brugge.

Ayanda Patosi was jerked at half-time for Lokeren as they lost 4-1 at Germinal Beerschot in the Europa League qualification groups.

In Sweden, May Mahlangu played for Helsingborg in their 2-1 home win over Elfsborg.

And striker Bradley Ralani got his season under way with second-tier Landskrona as they lost 2-1 at home to Brommapojkarna.

Much is expected of Ralani this season from his coach Henrik Larsson, who is scratching his head over why the player is overlooked for national team honours.

Calvin Kadi and his Greek side Veria moved to the top of the country's second tier without kicking a ball on Saturday when opponents Diagoras could not fulfill the fixture.

Finally, Bradley Grobler was again on the losing side for Turkish second-tier team Goztepe as they suffered a 2-1 reversal at home to Kasimpasa.
