Leopards on the hunt in Downs game

REJUVENATED Black Leopards have warned big spenders and Absa Premierships leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to brace themselves for their third league defeat of the season.

Leopards welcome the Brazilians to Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane tomorrow at 7.30pm in the only midweek league match.

Lidoda Duvha go into this match in high sprits after they secured a passage to the last 16 stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 2-all draw against DR Congo's St Eloi Lupopo in Lubumbashi on Friday. They went through 6-4 on aggregate.

"Sundowns must pay for the humiliation they caused us in Pretoria on October 30 where they hammered us 5-1," said Leopards chairman David Thidiela.

"The CAF celebrations are over and we are turning our focus on the league. When we went to Soccer City to play against Kaizer Chiefs, nobody gave us a chance. It is history that we beat them 1-0 prior to our trip to Congo.

"It is still the same before our match against Sundowns. Those who have written us off will be surprised on Wednesday the same way they were against Chiefs. I have been getting calls from Pirates supporters saying they are coming in big numbers to root for us.

"Wednesday's win will definitely go a long way in helping us move out of the relegation (zone). People were laughing earlier on when I said relegation does not exist in my vocabulary but now they are starting to believe me."

Leopards' Serbian coach Vladislav Heric will be back on the bench after missing the DRC match because of an allergy to the yellow fever vaccine.
