Chiefs coach left scratching head

KAIZER Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic will go into the club's Nedbank Cup tie against Free State Stars on Saturday still troubled by the club's inconsistency.

After a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Platinum Stars in Rustenburg on Saturday, Vermezovic said he could still not put his finger on why his charges have been blowing hot and cold.

"I don't have an explanation for the inconsistency," he said. "We work very hard at training during the week and this is a mystery I cannot explain. We have had problems with strikers getting injured, but I am hopeful things will improve."

The lack of consistency is threatening Chiefs' hopes of winning the league and Nedbank Cup double.

In their last three matches, they walloped Black Leopards 4- 0, lost 1-0 to the same club, before escaping with all the three points in Rustenburg.

Stars late rally at the Chiefs goals almost resulted in them stealing a point, something that would have left Vermezovic under more pressure from fans.

Ea lla koto as they are lovingly known, will come more determined to their next game after their 2-0 defeat to Golden Arrows.

The side is placed sixth on the PSL log and have become one of the most difficult sides to play against.
