FREE State Stars are determined to complete a brace of wins over Orlando Pirates in less than a week.

They meet in an Absa Premiership fixture tomorrow and Ea Lla Koto go into the clash with a psychological edge after they dumped Bucs out of the Nedbank Cup at Orlando Stadium.

Though it will require plenty of grit from Stars to beat a Pirates side out for revenge, Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena remains hopeful lightning will strike twice at the same place tomorrow.

"Nobody gave us a chance against Pirates on Saturday and it's history that we beat them. Now what will stop us from repeating the same feat on Wednesday?" asked Mokoena, whose side are dark horses to clinch the championship.

"Though Saturday's win was great, we have forgotten about it and it will be another challenge on Wednesday. This is a challenge we are prepared to overcome. Pirates must just expect another setback.

"Mathematically, we still have a chance to win the league and therefore it will be suicidal for us to drop points at the crucial stage of the season."

Stars forward Paulos Masehe, who scored the clincher on Saturday, is also adamant his former employers will bite the dust tomorrow. "We want to go out there and prove that Saturday's win was no fluke," said Masehe.

Pirates' stand-in coach Augusto Palacios believes they can beat Stars if they become more aggressive in front of goal.

"I believe that we will get the three points if we convert our chances. On Saturday we lacked that killer punch up front and it was really disappointing to lose. We are paying more attention to our finishing at training and I think we will be different on Wednesday," said the Peruvian.

In the absence of suspended Andile Jali, Thandani "Bibo" Ntshumayelo will take charge of Bucs' midfield alongside Oupa Manyisa. Kickoff is at 7.30pm

Tomorrow's fixtures are:

Orlando: Pirates vs FS Stars, Cape Town Stadium: Ajax Cape Town vs AmaZulu, Lucas Moripe: SuperSport United vs Moroka Swallows, Peter Mokaba: Black Leopards vs Santos, Moses Mabhida: Lamontville Golden Arrows vs Kaizer Chiefs, Royal Bafokeng: Platinum Stars vs Maritzburg United, Botshabelo: Bloemfontein Celtic vs Mamelodi Sundowns and Milpark: Bidvest Wits vs Jomo Cosmos.

  • All matches start at 7.30pm.
