WHILE Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens breathed a sigh of relief after his team drew with Moroka Swallows on Friday, he was still unhappy with his side's performance.
The log leaders were held to a 2-all draw by a spirited Birds side in Dobsonville, their second consecutive draw.
"I felt we started off well and after that we got sloppy. I'm not happy with how we conceded," said Neeskens.
"We were better in the second half, worked hard, took the lead and then let in a childish equaliser a minute later.
"We know (Swallows striker) Siyabonga Nomvethe's movements. We discussed it but we didn't implement. But I can live with a draw. We still have a lot of work to do and still have to improve our defending."
Downs have 36 points after 18 matches.
Swallows coach Gordon Igesund criticised the decision-making in the final half of the field in an otherwise thrilling encounter.
"The decision-making was poor. A player would shoot when there's an option and then pass when he should be taking a shot," Igesund said.
"We also conceded just before the break, which could have been different had we gone to half-time 1-0 ahead."
They are sixth on the table with 30 points.
- Of the other title challengers, SuperSport United lost while Kaizer Chiefs could only manage a draw, missing out on a chance to close the deficit to one point on Sundowns.
United were lacklustre in their 1-0 loss to AmaZulu, while Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by Wits on Saturday.
United coach Gavin Hunt was critical of his team's lack of penetration in front of goal, especially in their recent matches in Atteridgeville.
"One goal in three games at home, it is frustrating considering the chances we create," he said.
Chiefs moved up to second spot with 33 points while Matsatsantsa a Pitori remain on 32 points.
In another match, Ajax Cape Town drew 1-1 with Santos in the Cape derby.
Struggling Jomo Cosmos squandered a two-goal lead as they allowed Free State Stars to force a 2-2 draw in Daveyton.
