Safa challenges Sascoc on probe

SAFA have shown Sascoc the middle finger regarding an investigation launched by the Olympic movement.

It appears what irked Safa was the word "investigation" as used by Sascoc CEO Tubby Reddy.

"Safa therefore takes strong exception to the statements now made by the CEO of Sascoc that Safa is under investigation, and will not cooperate with any such investigation as currently constituted," said Safa in a statement.

This follows Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula expressing unhappiness at the administration of Safa and the need accountability on the use of 2010 Fifa World Cup Legacy monies.

Sascoc board member Mubarak Mahomed will lead the "investigation" and Safa, who suspect one of their own of being behind the investigation, said they were ready to meet with the Minister and dismissed claims of abuse of the Legacy funds as untrue and baseless.
