KAIZER Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune will make his first appearance in the club's famous gold-and-black as captain against Jomo Cosmos in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
The match, a must-win Absa Premiership clash for both sides for different reasons, will be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Amakhosi need the win to intensify their league challenge, while Cosmos want to ease their relegation worries.
This will also be Khune's first appearance in almost five months after he was injured in the drama-filled Bafana Bafana game against Sierra Leone last year.
In that match in Nelspruit, Khune and his Bafana teammates celebrated the goalless draw because they believed the score qualified them for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations that ended last night.
Confirming Khune's return, Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic said he was impressed by the short-stopper's performance during training.
Khune made his professional debut against Cosmos in 2007 after he was promoted from the developmental stages at the age of 17.
