THE founder member of one of the oldest softball clubs in the country, who died in Pretoria after a long illness, is to be buried on Saturday.

Raymond Sekhabotsana Motsei, 61, of Mamelodi West and founder member of the now defunct Mamelodi Eagles in the 1970s, died at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital and will be buried at the Mamelodi West Cemetery.

In addition to having claimed the right field position in the club for years, "Bra Ray" also served as secretary of the then Northern Transvaal Softball Union.

When he retired from action in the early 1990s, he took the reins as Eagle's coach until late 90s.

A funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church in Block R, Mamelodi West, at 7am.
