Siphiwe Tshabalala, meanwhile, finally penned a new three-year contract with Chiefs

DEADLINE DAY DEALS:New Pirates signee Sifiso Myeni, left, and Amakhosi attacking midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala

In my heart I started feeling like I want to be part of that history

SIFISO Myeni left it up to his family to make the biggest decision of his soccer life this week.

And they helped the Wits skipper clinch his move from the Clever Boys to Orlando Pirates.

The player, who had also been courted by Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, finally settled with Pirates yesterday, signing a three-year contract.

Siphiwe Tshabalala, meanwhile, finally penned a new three-year contract with Chiefs after his move to English Championship club Crystal Palace fell through.

But Palace have said that they will still pursue the midfielder in June.

Myeni admitted that he was confused by all the attention and also a little torn by the idea of having to leave Wits, a club that launched his career and helped him earn two Bafana Bafana caps, until the winger sat down with his family at the weekend.

"It was never going to be easy for me to leave Wits because of all the opportunities they gave me, but my family pointed me to Pirates," he said. "They talked to me about the history of the club and all (its) achievements.

"In my heart I started feeling like I want to be part of that history."

Now the family must help him recover from a broken leg and, once he's up and running again, support him in his pursuit of a place in Julio Leal's first team.

Myeni was injured in December against Platinum Stars in what was his last game for the Clever Boys.

"I am removing the cast on my leg this Saturday and on Monday I will start jogging. It's an honour for me to be signed while still injured. And I think I will be back sooner than everyone expects me to be," he said.

His former coach at Wits, Roger de Sa, said the winger was likely to miss the rest of the season because of the injury. But Myeni is confident he will be back in action as early as next month.

The same Reason why I am a Proud Supporter of a club with such Rich rich History. I listened as the madalas and unkels laid the history down, from its birth, to its name change, Scandals and Battles within the owners and NSL, the Kaizer Motaung issue right down to TODAY......the Treble Champs

Up the Bucs, Once......Always

Guys Zim players are not that cheap as you might think its only that they are disiplined and hard working thats all. That is the reason why Bobby likes these players. They put the game first before money.

the difference between Pirates, Chiefs & Sundowns.........in negotiating a deal to acquire the services of a particular player........is that, whilst the others court the Player and his Agent, Pirates (Iron Duke) speaks to the Player's Family (especially Mom)

Myeni, you welcomed to the house of champions.

Shabba, what a shame. You signing with the club you wanted to leave. Dont think your heart is at Chiefs.
