Shabba off-on deal on table
KAIZER Chiefs could wait a little longer to sign winger Siphiwe Tshabalala.
Amakhosi, who were due to clinch a contract extension with Tshabalala on Friday, are expected to seal the deal with the winger today but the player's business manager Jazzman Mahlakgane will not be in Johannesburg to conclude the dea.
Mahlakgane is in Kimberly with his other Chiefs client, Jimmy Tau, for burial arrangements after the player lost his younger sister yesterday.
There could also be other complications to the contract issue considering that English Championship club Crystal Palace, where Tshabalala spent 10 days in a trial, are expected to table an offer this week.
But Chiefs general manager Bobby Motaung remains hopeful Tshabalala will pen a new deal today.
"We have agreed with Jazzman regarding Shabba's new deal," Motaung said yesterday.
"I'm confident Shabba will sign tomorrow (today) to put this matter to rest so that we can all focus on preparations for the start of the second round of the league."
While Tshabalala's future was yet to be finalised, captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has signed a three-year extension at Naturena.
However, Khune's stay at the club could be temporary as he is going for trials with the same Palace in London next month.
Chiefs midfielder Josta Dladla has signed a new one-year deal with an option to renew.
Other Chiefs players who have extended their stay are Thomas Sweswe and Jimmy Jambo as well as Abia Nale.
Chiefs have also signed 21-year-old Zimbabwean striker Brian Abbas Amidu.
Elsewhere, Santos are chasing the signature of Orlando Pirates striker Patrick Malokase, while Platinum Stars have recalled winger Mduduzi Nyanda from SuperSport United.
Still with Stars, former Sundowns captain Esrom Nyandoro could be on his way to Phokeng as early as this week.
Stars are also hoping to convince Papi Zothwane to join them. Zothwane is also negotiating with Bloemfontein Celtic.
Bidvest Wits midfielder Mark Haskins has reunited with his old team, Jomo Cosmos.
Meanwhile, Sundowns are expected to formally make an approach to Wits with an offer estimated to be just over R2 million for Sfiso Myeni. Chiefs are also reportedly eyeing Myeni.
But Wits co-director George Mogotsi is adamant Myeni is going nowhere.

Tshabalala must go, he's becoming one of the asset chiefs sholud through in the dirty river. He does never help chiefs to win anything.............. there are so many players who can play far better than him.. Sepela Shabba, you did your assignment, now its time for you to leave that position vacant...Report Abuse
