Yeye's season is over
KAIZER Chiefs's star midfielder Reneilwe "Yeye" Letsholonyane will spend the rest of the season on the sidelines after he sustained a knee injury during Bafana Bafana's training camp last week.
Bafana were preparing for their practice match against Ghana, which took place in Phokeng on Sunday.
The influential midfielder expected to captain Bafana in Sunday's clash.
The armband was eventually given to Thabo Nthethe of Bloemfontein Celtic.
Letsholonyane is set to see a specialist today to hear the extent of his injury, but Chiefs confirmed that he will be out for the rest of the season.
"It is only after seeing the specialist that I will find out how serious the injury is," said Letsholonyane, who spent the first two months of the season sidelined by an injury he sustained during the inaugural Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates.
"I accepted it, it's one of those things in life. I'm hoping for the best," he said.
Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic has also accepted the fact that he will have to make do without one of his key players for the rest of the campaign.
"It is not the first time that a player from Chiefs has come back from Bafana Bafana with an injury. It is a blow for us.
"We will have to look at other players in the squad to fill the gap left by him."
The Serb coach said they will continue supporting Bafana despite Letsholonyane's setback.
Amakhosi players returned from the festive break on Monday and the coach is happy with their conditioning.
"I was pleased with all the players as they followed the training programme that was handed to them before the festive break. They are all motivated at training," said Vermezovic.
"Siphiwe Tshabalala, even though he trained on Monday, has an eye infection. He should be fine soon.
"It was good to see Itu (Itumeleng Khune) and (Tlou) Molekwane also returning to full training,"
"As I have said previously, the second half of the season will be very interesting.
"We still believe that we are on the right track in meeting our objective this season.
"We are all gearing up for what promises to be an interesting second half of the season."

Poor Reinelwe we sympathize with you nfana.Bucs can't afford a weak Chiefs in PSL.@ VV :"It is not the first time that a player from Chiefs has come back from Bafana Bafana with an injury. It is a blow for us". What exactly do u expect by your utterances - a guarantee that your players can feature in Bafana Bafana set up only if there won't be any casualities? Both PSL and SAFA should start disciplining these unpatriotic coaches who only have their own interest at heart if they do have hearts.Tsek VV!

The question is, was it worth the risk ? why release such an important player for such mediocre games ?I once saw a bumper sticker that said "Lack of planning on your part does not mean emergancy on my part", this is what all clubs should be telling SAFA.

There should be a rule that says players will only be released for games that matters which are international friendly, where players will be caped and ranking will be impacted. Pitso should only get the players in this games no other games, in which we have nothing to be proud off.Report Abuse
