Mabizela back in training

THERE was all-round jubilation in the Bidvest Wits camp when star defender Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela reported for training yesterday.

One of the few solid defenders in the country today, Mabizela could not have returned at a better time for the Students who are preparing for their crucial Telkom Knockout semifinal clash against Santos at Milpark on Sunday.

"He has recovered from his groin injury and we hope he will bolster our defence against Santos who are one of the trickiest sides to play against in the league," said Wits coach Roger de Sa yesterday.

"He started with light training today (yesterday) and will have full training tomorrow (today)."

Mabizela could be assigned to keep a close eye on Santos's reliable striker Erwin Isaacs.

"If I was a punter, I would make it a draw," said De Sa.

Santos coach Boebie "Mzala" Solomons has assembled one of the strongest teams since he took charge of the Cape side but his boys have struggled for goals.
