Pirates suspend Rosslee

ORLANDO Pirates have suspended assistant coach Craig Rosslee after the former Ajax Cape Town coach accused club management of interfering in technical matters when they won the treble last season.

Rosslee, who is joining Mpumalanga Black Aces as coach next season, claimed in the media this week that he and not Dutchman Ruud Krol had been responsible for the success of Bucs. Krol was head coach when they made history by winning the treble last term.

Pirates were expected to send Rosslee his suspension last night.

This will preclude the coach from working at Aces until the matter is resolved.

The former Cape Town Spurs right-back, who refused to comment last night, is still contracted to Pirates as their assistant coach.

Club boss Irvin Khoza fumed yesterday: "We are charging him for bringing the club into disrepute after comments attributed to him in the media where he accused the management of the club of interference in technical matters.

"(He) never raised any of those issues with us. and the only thing he used to do was to gossip about (Krol).

"We have a handbook guiding everybody employed by the club. Towards the end of the season, I made it clear I want a report from everybody and Craig never brought those allegations to me. Why does he raise them through the media?"

Khoza said he met Rosslee again when new coach Julio Leal was appointed last week and that he had not voiced any complaint.

"He will have to appear before our DC to explain why he is tainting the club's name."
