BAFANA Bafana are going ahead with their preparations for the crucial March 27 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Johannesburg, turning a blind eye to The Pharaohs' postponement request.
This is according to coach Pitso Mosimane, who has been spending sleepless nights devising strategies to beat the reigning African champions in the 2012 Afcon qualifier.
The Egyptians will send a request to the Confederation of African Football today, asking for the match to be postponed until June.
They will base their request on the premise that their preparations were affected by recent political unrest in the North African country.
But some experts would argue that The Pharaohs are looking for an excuse because their training camp was not affected by the protests. The situation in Egypt is back to normal after President Hosni Mubarak relinquished power.
"We want to play the match as scheduled and our preparations are continuing until we get information from CAF," said Mosimane yesterday.
"There are almost five weeks to go before the match is played, I don't see why it should not be played because everything is back to normal in Egypt."
A senior CAF official told Sowetan yesterday: "Their request is going to be dismissed on the basis that the match is played in South Africa and not Egypt."
