Bafana to face 5 US World Cup players for Mandela Cup
UNITED States coach Bob Bradley has drafted only five players from his 2010 Fifa World Cup squad to play Bafana Bafana in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Cape Town on Wednesday.
The players are Jonathan Bornstein, Robbie Findley, Clarence Goodson, Brad Guzan and Jonathan Spector.
Bradley has also roped in Juan Agudelo and Gale Agbossoumonde, who are the first two graduates from the US Soccer Development Academy in the squad.
Impressive youngsters Tim Ream, Mikkel Diskerud and Teal Bunbury have also been called up by Bradley.
The US are featuring in the yearly tournament for the second time.
Their first appearance was three years ago at Ellis Park where they beat Bafana 1-0, courtesy of a Steve Cherundolo goal.
In their previous clash, the US hammered South Africa 4-0 in Washington in 2000 where Cobi Jones scored a brace with the other goals coming from Earnie Stewart and Claudio Reyna.
Other football powerhouses who have participated in the tournament include Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Nigeria and Cameroon.
Safa chief executive Leslie Sedibe has announced that the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund will receive R1 million from the proceeds of Wednesday's match.
The partnership between the Fund and Safa dates back to 1994 when Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa's first democratically elected president.
Bafana will be captained by Steven Pienaar.

Defenders - Gale Agbossoumonde, Nat Borchers, Jonathan Bornstein, Clarence Goodson, Eric Lichaj, Tim Ream, Jonathan Spector
Midfielders - Alejandro Bedoya, Brian Carroll, Mikkel Diskerud, Eddie Gaven, Logan Pause, Robbie Rogers
Forwards - Juan Agudelo, Teal Bunbury and Robbie Findley.
