Mbazo backs Somma to shine for SA

BAFANA Bafana and Portsmouth captain Aaron Mokoena believes red-hot Leeds United striker David Somma is the right player to strength the Bafana attack.

Mokoena was reacting to a story in Sowetan yesterday in which Somma expressed his desire to play for Bafana. Pitso Mosimane is tipped to call up the Johannesburg-born striker for the Mandela Challenge match against the US on November 17.

Mokoena, who also plays in the Championship with Somma, told Sowetan yesterday: "David is an aggressive striker, a highly experienced player who has been doing well here in England. I have no doubt he will add value to the team.

"The man has options to play for the US and Italy but he chose his country of birth."

Somma told Sowetan : "The whole thing about me wanting to play for Bafana Bafana started a long time ago. I also discussed it with Lucas Radebe."
