Supersport United to visit the sick
SUPERSPORT United will be involved in social responsibility projects in and around Tzaneen ahead of their match against Orlando Pirates in the Mopani Executive Mayor's Charity Cup on Sunday.
The match, which kicks off at 3pm, takes place at NkowaNkowa Stadium near Tzaneen.
United's spokesperson David "Mazolman" Skosana said they were looking forward to social responsibility projects in spite of their hectic schedule.
"We will visit clinics and hospitals around Tzaneen and our technical team and players will also conduct coaching clinics for the youngsters," Skosana said yesterday.
"We believe that through these projects we will close the gap between the club and the communities.
"Our visit to different institutions, especially clinics and hospitals, will make the patients happy. They are a football fans and it will mean a lot for them to rub shoulders with the players they only see on television and read about in the newspapers," he said.
Gavin Hunt will hope that his Liberian attacker Anthony Laffor finds enough goals for Matsatsantsa a Pitori in their quest to defend their Charity Cup trophy.
Skosana's counterpart at Pirates, Mickey Modisane, said his side could not take part in the social responsibility projects since they would not arrive in the area in time.
"We would have loved to be part of such a project but we are happy that we are part of a tournament that raises money for charitable organisations," Modisane said yesterday.
Soccer fans will be entertained by the likes of Arthur, Chomee, Candy, Winnie Mashaba and other artists from around the area.
The tournament will also feature two more teams from the area who will meet at 1pm in a curtain-raiser to the main match. The teams are Blue Rocks and Shipungu United.
The gates will open at 8am. Juveniles will pay R20, adults R40 and R120 for the grandstands, while seats in the VIP area will cost R1000.
