BAFANA Bafana's new coach, Pitso "Jingles" Mosimnane, who is reportedly going to earn R800000 a month, has been given a mandate by Safa - qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup.

BAFANA Bafana's new coach, Pitso "Jingles" Mosimnane, who is reportedly going to earn R800000 a month, has been given a mandate by Safa - qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup.

But Mosimane, who turns 46 next week, is not afraid of the challenge .

"I can promise you that I will turn Bafana Bafana into world beaters," said Mosimane courageously.

He was speaking at a media briefing in Sandton, where he was confirmed by Safa as Bafana's new head coach yesterday.

"I'm here to add value and creativity to the national team. My vision is to take Bafana Bafana to the next level on our journey to the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

"Everybody has to prove himself and I will be no exception. I am not expecting any favours since I know results is the name of the game. I want to be judged based on my performance," he said.

The former SuperSport United mentor will not make changes to the national team just because he is now the boss.

"But I will not hesitate to make changes when necessary. This job is about taking tough decisions that may not necessarily be popular among other people. I will always be open to advice and communicate effectively with the people I will be working with," he said.

Mosimane is likely to work with Mike Ntombela as the new team manager.

On the issue of his assistant, Mosimane said he had recommended that Safa "retain the technical staff we worked with during the 2010 World Cup campaign".

Mosimane and Brazilian Jairo Leal assisted Carlos Alberto Parreira.

Mosimane said he also wanted to create synergies between the programmes of all national teams.

"It is important that we focus more on development. We have the technical director (Serame Letsoaka) who I will closely work with.

"I will also work with all the national coaches because we need uniformity."

Safa president Kirsten Nematandani said they will support Mosimane in his vision.

Said Safa chief executive Leslie Sedibe: "Pitso has been given a four-year contract which has key performance areas.

"That includes qualifying for the 2012 Afcon and 2014 World Cup."

l Bafana play Ghana in a friendly at Soccer City on August 11.
