Wedding show coming to Soweto

Soweto is to hold its first ever Bridal Indaba Wedding Expo.

Soweto is to hold its first ever Bridal Indaba Wedding Expo.

The event will showcase wedding planning tips and tools provided by industry professionals, roving 45-minute fashion shows, makeovers, expert beauty advice and lavish hors d'oeuvres entrees and desserts.

Top-notch vendors will display a variety of wedding-related services, including photography, videography, cakes, florists, caterers, DJs, salons, travel and much more.

To take place at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown from July 31 to August 1, the crowds will enjoy delicacies created by the Sakumzi Restaurant in Orlando West.

The concept was brought by Corine Scheepbouwer to South Africa. She has been organising the Bridal Indaba Wedding Expo for 15 years. In 2007, she joined forces with her sister Liz Vrijenhoek to form an events company called Dalani Marketing, and the two sisters have continued to organise the Bridal Indaba on an annual basis.

Vrijenhoek told Sowetan that they were very excited about the event.

She said they decided to have the second show in Soweto because they noticed that there were a lot of people from Soweto who visited the show. " Initially we were very nervous because it was a different market altogether. This has never been done before in Soweto."

The event, which is sponsored by FNB, was initially held at the Balalaika Hotel, but it proved so successful that they had to find a larger venue at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways.

"We want this to be a true Soweto experience. We encourage Soweto designers and exhibitors who would like to be part of this historic event to contact us. There is a limited number of stands still available."
