A 29-YEAR-OLD man is expected to appear in the Pinetown magistrate's court today on charges of kidnapping and murdering maskandi singer Sabelo Ngcamu.
The man allegedly shot and killed Ngcamu and then dumped his body in the bush.
Ngcamu was reported missing on July 5 after leaving his home at Dassenhoek to perform at the World Cup fan park in Durban.
It is not known whether he had boarded a taxi to Durban on that day, but it was confirmed he did not arrive at the event.
When three days went by with no sign of him, his family reported him missing.
Ngcamu, 44, was found dead on Tuesday, his body dumped in the bush near a river in Marianridge.
A man suspected of his murder was arrested on Tuesday and he allegedly confessed to the killing.
The suspect was also found in possession of the gun he had allegedly used to commit the crime.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the man had led police to a river in the Mariannhill area where he had dumped the body.
Police said they believed that the suspect had shot Ngcamu after a quarrel over a woman.
Ngcamu's brother told Sowetan yesterday that the family had lost a breadwinner, a brother and a father.
When asked if they had known about the alleged conflict over a woman, he said Ngcamu, who had four children, never spoke about his love life.
