HEADS will roll today when the provincial education department starts with the physical head count of teachers across KwaZulu-Natal to deal with "ghost" teachers and verify teachers' qualifications.
The move comes after the provincial cabinet had agreed on the head count in all government departments.
Education department superintendent general Cassius Lubisi said each employee would receive a pay-slip and would be expected to sign the payroll for the salaries paid on 30 June and July 15.
He said school-based educators would be given the Education Management Information System educator form to complete.
"The department which has over 100000 employees in the province will carry out the head count up until August 6.
"As per requirement, teachers will have to be present, be able to produce a valid identity document and certified copies of their qualifications," Lubisi said.
