SAFA TO UNVEIL PITSO

PITSO "Jingles" Mosimane will be unveiled as the new Bafana Bafana coach by the South African Football Association within 10 days.

PITSO "Jingles" Mosimane will be unveiled as the new Bafana Bafana coach by the South African Football Association within 10 days.

Mosimane impressed the Safa technical committee with his presentation on his vision for Bafana.

Mosimane was endorsed by Safa's highest decision-making body, the national committee, to take over the baton from Carlos Alberto Parreira as new Bafana Bafana coach.

Parreira has also urged Safa to give the job to Mosimane.

Safa's top brass asked the technical committee, which includes Jomo Sono, Gavin Hunt, Clive Barker and Ted Dumitru, to engage Mosimane regarding the way forward for Bafana Bafana, who became the first host team to bomb out in the first round during the World Cup.

Other members of the technical committee include Simon Ngomane, Harold Legodi and Serame Letsoaka, the Safa technical director.

"Pitso knows what he wants to do with the national team. We were impressed by his presentation," said Safa technical committee convener Fanyana Sebanyoni.

"We are satisfied with his vision for soccer in South Africa, that is why we recommended his name to Manco (the management committee)."

Safa chief executive Leslie Sedibe has been mandated by the executive committee to start negotiating with Mosimane once the technical committee is happy with his vision.

Sedibe said Mosimane, who was one of Parreira's two assistants, will choose his own technical committee as part of the preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

In between, Bafana Bafana will also participate in the 2012 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

A key performance clause will be included in Mosimane's four-year contract. While Brazilian Jairo Leal has agreed to remain as an assistant, Sowetan has learnt that Safa was looking at roping in former Bafana Bafana captains Steve Komphela and Neil Tovey to also work with Mosimane.

Mosimane has gone into exile on the instructions of Safa, until he is unveiled to the media by Sedibe and president Kirsten Nematandani.
