Three injured in city crash

THREE people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in an accident involving a bus and a car in central Cape Town yesterday.

THREE people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in an accident involving a bus and a car in central Cape Town yesterday.

Netcare 911 paramedics spokesperson Lauren Copley said the accident happened on Long Street just before 6am.

"It is believed the BMW approached at high speed from Van Riebeeck Road and skipped the red robot, hitting the bus.

"The bus swerved, crashing into a pillar of a nearby building."

A male from the BMW allegedly fled the scene.

"Two female passengers in the BMW, including a pregnant woman estimated to be in her 30s, sustained light head injuries," she said.

The jaws of life had to be used to free the bus driver, aged 51, who was trapped behind his dashboard. - Sapa
