World Cup proves a true unifier

POPULAR radio sports commentator-turned-businessman Aubrey Motloung has brought the Fifa World Cup to residents of Moiletswane.

POPULAR radio sports commentator-turned-businessman Aubrey Motloung has brought the Fifa World Cup to residents of Moiletswane.

Moiletswane is a village surrounded by the Pretoria townships of Soshanguve and Mabopane.

Motloung, who is also an SABC Sport radio producer, has installed big screens at his new sports pub, which is known as JR Entertainment.

"Fifa has allocated about 3,5million tickets for the World Cup and it is not possible for everybody in South Africa and abroad to access the tickets, so I decided to come up with a way to assist the fans who are without tickets to watch the matches on the big screens," Motloung said.

"We thought it would be a good idea to bring the World Cup closer to the people of Moiletswane so that they can follow all the matches. What makes me even more happy is that we have seen more women coming to watch matches in this World Cup.

"South Africa will never be the same after this World Cup because this tournament has unified us. I have never seen almost all South Africans coming together for one thing."
