THIS is in response to the beautiful letter published in Sowetan on July 1 on the Red Sea.
Its beauty lies in the fact that I never thought that geographical intricacies could prove the Lord to be of such a great magnitude. Science and the Bible crossing paths always marvels me.
The Bible clearly states , "What is impossible with man is possible with God" (Luke 18:27).
If the Red Sea could be crossed so easily, then there would not be a need for the account to be recorded. Seas are crossed every day and we never hear about it.
This time the crossing had a divine intervention. When divinity involves itself in human matters, we call them miracles.
The Lord needed them to cross so that they could see how powerful He is. He can even put nature on hold for convenience. Nature obeys God instantly, shouldn't you?
You must also remember that Egypt is in Africa and Canaan is in the Middle East. I stand to be corrected. One needs to go through seas and oceans to cross continents.
You should also find it amazing that the Egyptian army was chasing them on horseback, but they couldn't catch up. When they tried to cross the sea swallowed them. This should teach you that your enemies will never prevail against you.
How did they descend to reach the bottom? Remember that the sea is steep in the middle, not from the shore.
The conclusion of your letter however, puzzles me. I take it you are not familiar with the reasoning behind the Israelites having to leave Egypt and head for the Promised Land. This is worrying.
