THE case against Domingo Santiago, one of the three men accused of kidnapping a 6-year-old Angolan boy, has been referred to the commercial crimes court for trial.

THE case against Domingo Santiago, one of the three men accused of kidnapping a 6-year-old Angolan boy, has been referred to the commercial crimes court for trial.

It is scheduled to start on July 21.

Santiago appeared briefly in the Johannesburg magistrate's court yesterday, where it was decided that the case be moved. He is out on R5000 bail.

He and co-accused Francisco Jose and Fernando Jamba allegedly kidnapped Samuel Amoes, the son of Angolan mining magnet Faustino Amoes, at a church in Troyeville in May.

They released the boy two days later after being paid a R1million ransom.

Santiago is only charged with money laundering after he was found with US dollar notes believed to be some of the ransom money.

Jose was arrested six days after the incident. He led police to Jamba and later Santiago.
