Palestinians and Jews need own states

POLITICAL events in the Middle East are a cause for great concern.

POLITICAL events in the Middle East are a cause for great concern.

They show the lack of commitment by the Israeli government to end the confrontation and to restore peace.

For how long will the Israelis foment violence and violate the human rights of the Palestinians while the world watches and does very little to help?

I read a lot about the confrontation between the Jews and Palestinians in the 80s when I was a small boy and I am still reading about this conflict. I wonder if there will ever be lasting peace in the Middle East?

This conflict dates back to the time when the state of Israel was established in 1948 and the Arab hostility towards this. Though one condemns the terrorism of Al Fatah and Hamas, one must equally condemn the terrorism of Israel.

Not a single Israeli leader was genuinely committed to finding and restoring peace between Palestinians and the Jews. The Palestinians were subjugated in their land by the governments of David Ben Gurion, Chaim Weizmann, Moshe Dayan, Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin and so on.

Most Palestinians were confined to camps while the most arable land was prepared for Jewish settlement. In this way Palestinians became foreigners in the land of their birth.

No rational being can fold his arms and watch his land being usurped by another nation. Palestinians responded with violence to violence.

The Jewish state has every right to exist and so does a Palestinian state. The world must recognise both states and the US should not favour Israel over Palestine.
