TWENTY-FIVE people have been arrested for the murder of a man and the attack on two others in Phoenix, north of Durban, in yet another act of vigilantism.
Colonel Jay Naicker said a group of people attacked the three while they were sleeping at the Blackburn informal settlement on Tuesday at 2am.
"All three were attacked with an assortment of weapons, including sticks, knobkerries, stones and sharp instruments," Naicker said.
"One of the men, Ntsindiso Ngwadla, 30, sustained fatal stab wounds whilst the remaining two were hospitalised with serious injuries,"
They will be charged with murder and attempted murder.
Police are monitoring the situation in the area.
In a bizarre incident, a man was stuck under a truck near a spare wheel compartment while the vehicle was travelling towards Durban.
ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said paramedics were called to the M13 Durban-bound just past Hillcrest for a man who was stuck under a truck and possibly needed medical attention.
But on their arrival they were shocked by what they saw.
"They found the man had become wedged in underneath the truck near the spare wheel, The paramedics were able to free the man," Banks said.
The man was treated for possible neck and back injuries and taken to RK Khan Hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the truck, which was on Old Main road, had stopped at traffic lights in Hillcrest.
The man had allegedly hidden himself underneath the truck to hitch a ride to Durban.
