Mob justice on the rise

VIGILANTISM has reared its ugly head again in KwaZulu-Natal. This comes after a suspected criminal, Lucky Mpanza, was shot and stoned to death at the weekend.

Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant- Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the incident happened after the man allegedly robbed a resident of Nongoma, northern Zululand.

In another act of vigilantism, two men, Cebo Ntobela, 21, and Philani Doyisa, 24, were stabbed to death by a group of people in Umlazi V-section on Saturday.

Police said six people, including two women, had stabbed the two to death.

Both incidents happened two days after KwaMbonambi police arrested 22 people who confessed to chopping up Phila Gina, 30, at Umfolozi Farm outside Mtubatuba.
